Buccaneers News · Swimming Teams Showing Improvement


The boys and girls swim teams have been working hard to start the season and are preparing for some big meets ahead, such as the 2-day Coaches Classic and the GWOC meet this month. This past Saturday, the teams attended a 19-team Invitational at WSU. The boys team finished 8th, while the girls team finished 10th overall.
Highlights of the meet include:
Senior Carsyn Siefert took 1st place in the 500 free with a time of 5:33.96 and took 3rd in the 200 free.
Grant Smith placed 5th in the 200 free, while Eli Caldwell took 10th.
Freshman Will Miller placed 11th in the 100 free with a time of 1:00.30; while Emma Cole placed 15th for the girls.
Garrett Beam placed 15th in the 50 free with a time of 27.28.
Micah Neeld took 16th in the 100 back, while Eli Caldwell took 14th for the boys.
In the 100 breast, Lauren Pham placed 10th, while Grant Smith took 6th.
The girls 200 medley relay of Micah Neeld, Lauren Pham, Carsyn Siefert, and Emma Cole took 8th, while those same girls took 5th in the 200 free relay out of 27 relay teams. The swim team is next at the Fayette County YMCA this Saturday for a quad meet!
